Kim Coleman- Comedian, actor, director, writer, instructor, and producer, has been involved in theatre for the past 20 years. Whether it’s appearing in commercials, television, or film or writing original scripts for Life Way Christian Resources, Coleman is always busy. She has directed, taught and performed with numerous theatre companies in Illinois, Tennessee, North Carolina and Texas.
Coleman has taught at the state level for the Southern Baptist Creative Ministries Festivals in South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Kentucky not to mention teaching for several of the regional and national Christians in Theatre Arts Conferences. She has performed and taught at the Lillenas Music & Drama Conference in Kansas City and the Choral Festival in South Carolina. Kim also taught theater with the AD Players in Houston, TX, one of the oldest Christian Theater companies in the country. She has also appeared with founder Jeanette Cliff-George, at Creative Ministry Festivals.
Kim now tours nationally performing Christian Comedy and has opened for Elisa Morgan- founder of MOPS International, Lee Ezell- Humor Therapist and Jeanette Cliff-George- founder and Artistic Director for the A.D. Players. She has also appeared with national speakers Carol Kent, Liz Curtis Higgs, Cindi Woods the Frazzled Female, Mary Southerland, Zoe Elmore from Proverbs 31 Ministries and recording artists Gwen Smith and The McRaes. Kim also serves as a consultant to churches and organizations interested in starting arts camps and works with churches interested in using drama as a worship tool. She can also be heard on WPIR 88.1 JOYFM 5 days a week with her 60 sec. spot of encouragement, “Laughter 4 Life; and weekly on 91.9 New Life doing moments of comedy. She has been featured on 2 DVD projects, Big Laughs Comedy and Holy Rollers Comedy Revival (the only female Christian Comic featured). She has a new CD out called “The Lighter Side of Grace” and soon to be released comedy DVD entitled, “In The Beginning…” She will also be featured at the National Foursquare Women’s Gathering in 2009 in Atlanta, GA, with other national speakers Lisa Welchel, Chonda Pierce and Tammy Dunahoo.
Coleman can even be seen on television tackling Jake Delhomme’s body double for Bojangles Chicken, running on the Lowes Motor Speedway in the ESPN/Office Depot commercial with Carl Edwards, and impersonating Adam Morrison, yes mustache and all, for the Bobcats Commercial.
Kim attends Grace Covenant Church, where she has served as Director of Adult Drama and Creative Ministries Leader. She also volunteers as a leader for VBS every year. She lives with her two daughters, McKenna and Jordan-Grace, and their dog Kujo in Cornelius, NC. Kim attended Appalachian State University where she majored in Theatre & Speech Education.
Coleman knows the gift of comedy is a gift from God and delights in using that gift to introduce others to the joy of the Lord and his love for them. In fact, her favorite verse is Nehemiah 8:10, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.”
